Katie is a statistical ecologist interested in animal movement, habitat use, and predator-prey dynamics. She received her PhD on the “Effects of trophic interactions and climate change on the spatial ecology of an Arctic predator” from UBC. Katie has years of experience studying Arctic marine mammals, gaining an understanding of their spatial dynamics informing conservation strategies. She has collaborated with partners across academia and governmental institutions. In her role with the WSC, she’s transitioning to study the space use of land-based mammals to understand their responses to changing landscapes and how that may influence their demography.
